The team you will be a part of

The Procurement team identifies researches and evaluates suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Recognizes and evaluate sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.

This role in summary

The Senior Cost Analyst is a highly visible position, reporting to the Target Cost Manager in Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS). The primary function of the role focuses on leading the material cost for projects, assisting project teams in the logical and systematic conversion of customer and product requirements into total affordable system solutions through the application of the Target Costing process and necessary analytical support. The Senior Cost Analyst will have a working knowledge of applying the Target Costing process for both new launch and existing products, and will lead cost analysis to enable the project team to reach performance and cost objectives. You will gain broad knowledge, experience, and understanding of Engineering and Manufacturing from a product development standpoint, as well as strong program/project management skills and excellent quantitative analysis/critical thinking capabilities. Highly effective project management, communication and teaming skills are required when interfacing with Product Management as well as process partners in Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS), Marketing, Global Consumer Design, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing. The objective of this position is to lead material cost for projects, applying world-class Target Costing processes that enable attainment of sustainable competitive advantage with respect to product cost.

Your responsibilities will include

The objective of this position is to provide leadership over product cost management by:

  • Leading the global launch teams to understand and achieve product cost targets, one of the key metrics of every project

  • Providing product cost visibility to business leaders across all functions, including, but not limited to: Product Marketing, Platform Engineering, Project Leadership Office, and Global Strategic Sourcing in regular leadership reviews

  • Identifying and driving closure to cost opportunities within Global Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, and Marketing spaces

  • Leading cost-trade off discussions with leaders in Global Strategic Sourcing, Marketing, Global Consumer Design, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing

  • Leveraging cost models and other tools to drive Commodity Management personnel to achieve the component target cost

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance or Business is required.

  • Solid experience in a procurement, operations, manufacturing, and/or supply chain environment.

  • Familiarity and/or an understanding with the manufacturing and assembly procedures used to produce components and assemblies.

  • Some level of experience in a product development environment is preferred.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Financial analysis skills that center on understanding the financial impact of changes to design specification, manufacturing process, and supply chain costs are also required. Exposure to Activity Based Costing methodologies is a plus.

  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel) as well as Google Sheets are required and modeling experience (CAD programs, product evaluation software, etc.) is desirable. Experience with aPriori and related software products is a plus.

  • Solid analytical skills and a strong business acumen including experience with lean manufacturing process tools (Toyota approach), design for assembly, design for manufacturing, and manufacturing cost structure analysis are key. Higher grade levels require experience in project management, personnel leadership, and target costing processes.

  • Ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem solving tools is preferred. Ability to lead and train others in the target costing process is necessary.

  • Tools and techniques of ccOpex, SAP, and aPriori, Cost modeling methodology are requirements and will be attained through completion of training following entry into this position.
