​​Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. ​​Within Azure Data, the HDInsight is the open-source managed service (Spark, HIVE, HBase, Trino, Kafka and Flink). We build highly reliable, secure, and scalable distributed software that handles several petabytes of data. We are a critical platform that enables many customers to transform any data at any scale into business assets easily at low cost.

To help us with our evolution, we are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join the HDInsight team. You will be responsible for building and delivering critical platform capabilities. You will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to define product requirements, develop product roadmaps, and drive product development from ideation to launch.

Responsibilities

In this role, the product manager will work on the following aspects:

1. Write compelling product and technical specifications that outline customer needs and product requirements.

2. Collaborate with engineering, design, and other teams to ensure successful product development.

3. Work with customers and implement intuitive tooling to implement, manage and operate workloads in consistent, secure, and cost-effective manner.

4. Identify performance, scale and reliability optimizations to be made to make HDInsight the platform of choice for OSS analytics implementations.

5. Work with stakeholders to identify the security initiatives, gaps and plan the mitigations.

6. Work with internal Microsoft stakeholders and open-source community to evaluate and communicate the security changes.​

Qualifications

Required /Minimum Qualifications

​​Mandatory

Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years' experience in product/program management or software development

OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in few of the open-source components such as Spark, Kafka, HBase, Flink, Trino, HIVE

2. Deep understanding of network security, Authentication mechanism and other security form factors.

3. Familiarity with big data architecture patterns.

4. Ability to write SQL queries to analyze telemetry.

5. Good presentation and communication skills.​
