The properties team at Target helps create, build, and maintain a joyful physical experience for consumers, teams, and communities. Within Properties, the Property management team strategically manages Target Properties to deliver a superior store environment for our guests and TMs through an innovative, thoughtful, and financially disciplined approach to property management on Value, Reliability and Brand.​

The Data & Insights team’s mission is to harness the power of data to inform critical decisions that enable reliable and on brand guest experience at every Target location. We are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful analytical projects such as A/B testing, experimentation, statistical analysis to inform Property Management’s evolving strategy in an ever-change environment.

The Data & Insights team

  • Integrates into the business as strategic analytics partners and anticipates and uncovers stated or unstated needs.

  • Listens and empowers team member and external stakeholder voice

  • Uses our analytics expertise to test, measure, analyze, understand and answer various business questions

  • Provide reporting to help inform on the current state of the business and help facilitate process at scale

  • Connects our understanding across Properties to deliver data driven products and solutions

  • Provide meaningful insights and recommendations

  • Cultivate robust collaborations with technology and data engineering teams to facilitate the implementation of optimal data management practices

About the role:

As a Sr Manager Data Analytics you will be responsible for supporting our efforts to help Target make better data driven decisions around team through analytics and insight. In this role you’ll serve as an advocate of our data-driven culture, leading a team of analysts, and play a key role in partnership with Product Engineering and Data Engineering teams. You will accomplish this through a wide variety of skills, demonstrating them yourself and insuring quality across your team. Technical skills include: data wrangling, visualization, statistical analysis, modeling, analytical engineering and data strategy & management. In this leadership position, you will oversee a team of analysts and utilize agile methodologies in your operations. The team will operate in close partnership with the Data & Insights team located in the U.S. under the guidance of the Director of Data & Insights.

  • Build a high performing team through talent pipeline planning, hiring, setting clear expectations and performance management.

  • Build strong partnership with Product Engineering and Data Engineering teams to collectively ensure high standards of data quality.

  • Lead a team of data analysts providing strategic guidance on projects and development guidance, which help build Target’s future leaders.

  • Foster innovation on data management and analytical engineering practice

  • Ability to work independently and coach others to turn business problems into data solutions

  • Creating measurable insights from the data to be shared

  • Documenting calculations, code, and adhering to data management principles

  • Validating and testing data assets of others in the form of peer review

  • Exploring statistical analysis that could be applied to the data

  • Performing descriptive statistics including mean, variance, median, correlation

  • Applies insights and testing in partnership with business users

  • Active participant in team meetings

  • Lead agile ceremonies

  • Serve as a thought leader and mentor on business domain and analytical techniques to elevate team performance

About You:

Required:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years work experience in data analysis or masters level education in business analytics, data science, etc.

  • Demonstrated leader in knowledge and application of data, analytical engineering, and analytics.

  • Proficient with various programming languages- SQL, R, Python

  • Proficient with relational and non-relational databases

  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education to continue to raise individual and team performance

  • Demonstrated outstanding ability to drive efforts from concept to implementation and influence across all levels of the organization

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical acumen

  • Superior communication, listening, and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Proven team leadership experience including hiring, coaching, building a talent pipeline, performance management

  • Strong track-record of building strategic partnerships globally

  • Exceptional dot-connector who thinks architecturally in data structure design
