Amazon Transportation collectively represents some of the most critical components of Amazon’s first-class transportation network. This organization oversees all global middle and last mile products, spanning B2B and B2C, critical partners, enterprise and SMB customers across numerous teams. This includes – but is not limited to – Amazon Shipping, Amazon Freight, Amazon Relay, Amazon Freight Partners, Amazon Flex, Amazon Hub, Amazon Hub Delivery and delivery service partner. Everything we do is aimed at further delighting our customers, partners and employees with faster, cheaper and more efficient means of shipping and receiving packages.

Creative Garage (CG) is the central creative team supporting the portfolio of global transportation products across Amazon Transportation. The team focuses on building brand awareness, recognition, acquisition and engagement with global transportation brands through the human stories behind logistics. The team builds and owns the global brands and the creative expression of these brands throughout the customer journey. We work closely with global marketing and customer insights partners to test and learn creative, ensuring our design solutions resonate with the target audience. We have high standards and strive to continuously raise the bar across all creative elements.

The Art Director will have a passion for creative development and execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, experienced, and versatile creative who turns business goals and creative vision into world-class designs. They will have a proven understanding of creative and design, and an ability to develop scalable design systems for our product portfolio. They will develop a strong knowledge of Amazon and Amazon Transportation products, brand guidelines, and design tenets. This person thrives as a research-driven designer, loves collaborating with business stakeholders to understand customer pain-points and excels in creating exceptional storytelling solutions for our customers. They will design engaging, omni-channel visual content, including but not limited to: marketing campaigns, sales collateral, and in-person event experiences. They have experience synthesizing complex concepts into simple storytelling that resonates with customers. They will have a high degree of ownership and integrity; they will be strong problem solvers with the ability to think critically. They must be willing to continuously learn and keep up with the latest trends.

Key job responsibilities

• Skilled at art direction, brand development, image curation, visual storytelling, layout, form and color.

• Manage campaign art direction end-to-end (from concept to production) across mediums including digital, social, OOH, on-platform ads, direct mail, collateral, external partnerships, experiential, and more.

• Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides, across multiple and diverse categories, look to understand and translate data into insights that inform creative conceptual development

• Establish mechanisms and audit work to maintain consistent brand standards across all customer-facing touch points of marketing programs

• Present concepts and work to stakeholders and cross-functional partners, including senior management up to VP level

• Write, develop and work from creative briefs to translate marketing strategies to creative execution.

• Employs sound critical thinking & problem-solving approaches, comes to the table with solutions.

• Establish and maintain a high creative bar of excellence.

• Comfortable taking ownership in an ambiguous environment.

• Demonstrates a command of creative methods, tools, communication, and presentation skills.

• Builds trust, respect, and credibility with stakeholders, management peers, direct reports, and executives.

• Engages in active listening and gathers diverse perspectives, knowing when and where to provide sometimes divergent perspective.

• Works collaboratively with the creative operations team to deliver projects on time and on budget.

• Identify emerging culture/design trends and digital innovations

• Works with a global marketing team across NA, UK and EU, localizing where necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • Experience working with agile development teams (agile/scrum/kanban)

  • Knowledge of branding guidelines and corporate identity, visual design, print and digital layout design

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite applications, with high proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat using macOS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with motion design and video editing is a bonus

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Self-starter with the passion, ability, and energy to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.

  • Proven ability to deliver results and prioritize tasks in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.

  • Able to work in a diverse team.

  • B2B, transportation and/or logistics design experience a bonus, but not required

  • Basic understanding of and/or experience in the freight shipping/supply chain or similar industry a bonus, but not required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, English, creative, advertising, or another related field.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
