With strong divisional growth, the Residential and Landscape Contractor (RLC) division is seeking an innovative visual merchandising designer to assist in generating sales through creative branded retail experiences and instore displays that capture buyers’ attention, with the goal of providing an excellent in-store experience. You will employ visual merchandising principles to convert shoppers into prospects by driving branding and sales objectives in order to maximize profitability.

What Will You Do?

  • Utilize in store shopping observational voice of customer to understand customer buying behaviors and responses to Toro and competitive merchandising.

  • C reate and implement a visual merchandising strategy and roadmap for mass (Lowe’s, Ace, Tractor Supply Company, True Value, etc. ) and independent dealer s (Toro has more than 3,000 dealer locations).

  • Liaise with retail professionals, including buyers/merchants, marketing executives, retail merchandisers, and more to execute strategic merchandising initiatives for areas of accountability, visual and seasonal concepts.

  • Possess a strong design sensibility and creative vision to conceptualize and bring ideas to life through sketches and renderings of visual displays that meet the store’s visual design requirements.

  • Ideate, develop and manage the creation and production of POP, POS, flex designs and more .

  • Oversee planogramming and the Toro planogram set.

  • Finalize designs and create detailed floor plans for display areas.

  • Ensure the Toro brand identity is confidently represented in line with the retailer’s brand, products, and target market.

  • Source the props, creative materials, and accessories for displays.

  • Install and set up window displays, walkways, counters, and in-store displays , or supervis e contractors hired for this purpose.

  • Ensure uniformity of displays across multiple store locations.

  • Monitor costs and works within budget.

  • Research lifestyle and design trends that will inform the visual merchandising strategy.

  • Keep track of the store inventory and make sure that the visual merchandising is displayed effectively.

What Do You Need?

  • 5+ years of design experience demonstrating increased responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, spatial design, interior design, retail management, or a related field.

  • Proven work experience as a visual merchandiser or visual manager.

  • Comprehensive portfolio of relevant visual design work.

  • Experienced d esigner proficient with at using Adobe Creative Suite programs, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or 3D Rendering Software , and MS Office Suite.

  • Previous experience as a visual merchandiser, or experience working o n a merchandising team.

  • Working knowledge of current visual merchandising trends and best practices.

  • Experience working with vendors or with the retail sales team.

  • Ability to analyze sales merchandising reports and survey results.

  • Able to articulately communicate ideas – both verbally and visually.

  • Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs.

  • Timelines, budgets, and availability change – we need someone who can ”roll with it ”.

  • Fast-moving, over-motivated, deadline-oriented multitasker.

  • Travel expectation: 10-15% mainly to retail locations or similar ​

It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
