This role can be located in Longmont, CO or Austin, TX.

As a Micron Storage Business Unit (SBU) Product Manager within the data center SSD product management team, you’ll get the unique opportunity to lead and manage products in one of the fastest-growing segments of the industry in one of the most exciting eras of semiconductor development.

You’ll work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, finance, marketing, and operations to define, shape, and scale the data center storage solutions that are powering customer AI applications and enabling improved sustainability, scalability, and affordability.

You will become the voice of the market’s needs and turn customer insights into action by translating them into new and differentiated products that you bring to market and then manage across the product lifecycle.

This influential role requires system thinking and the ability to simultaneously lead cross-functional teams, build business plans, distill insights from complex data sets, forecast market needs, navigate ambiguity, prioritize features/tradeoffs, analyze financials, and interact closely with customers as you co-design future possibilities with them.

This role also requires strong decision-making skills, humility, and a passion for how the storage and use of the world’s data will shape the future.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Own, manage, and lead Micron data center SSD products with P&L responsibility

  • Help define Micron’s long-term roadmap for data center SSDs, services, and solution offerings

  • Be the voice of the customer internally and externally: start with the customer and work backwards by building and nurturing deep customer relationships

  • Be the voice of your product in customer meetings and throughout the industry

  • Understand current & future data center SSD features and trends. Evaluate which features make sense for Micron to pursue based on financial viability, technical feasibility, and customer use cases

  • Produce the financial models and businesses cases that support your product’s inclusion on the Micron data center SSD roadmap

  • Bring future products to life by pitching ideas to Micron executives to secure funding

  • Analyze the competitive landscape and position your products for segment success

  • Create go-to-market plans and help cross-functional teams execute them successfully

  • Train sales and business development how to sell your product and collaborate with them to get/win customer quals and forecast for your business

  • Align and coordinate strategies across Micron’s product, service, and sales divisions

  • Onboard new customers as they complete qualifications

  • Create and refine product plans in alignment with engineering and resolve technical issues

  • Manage all product details and data for your products: be the voice of truth

  • Work with customer support as needed to resolve customer issues

  • Establish a clear demand profile for your products that encompasses a deep understanding of your segment’s TAM, SAM, and SOM by customer

  • Collaborate with Technical Product Managers on market requirement documents that translate business, customer, and technical needs into clear features and benefits that engineering can build to

Qualifications and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to grasp complex financial, technical, and marketing information to develop SSD product plans and strategies in the data center segment

  • Ability to translate highly complex technical & marketing information into simple and actionable SSD product plans that team members from different functions can effectively act upon

  • Strong communication and presentation skills that have already been honed in front of customers and executives

  • Demonstrated business acumen, critical thinking, technical aptitude, and data organization skills

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, winning trust, and working across multiple locations

  • Fluent in prioritization, analytics, pattern recognition, navigating ambiguity/uncertainty, and curiosity

  • Ability to think generationally: understand how today’s needs impact and influence tomorrow’s requirements as the industry landscape constantly changes

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field. MBA or Master’s Degree preferred with experience in product development, marketing, sales, or operations in the storage industry or technology-related field

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience and familiarity with several common data center SSD end customer workloads: cloud storage, software-defined storage, capacity and caching tiers, block/object stores, SQL/NoSQL databases, AI/ML, analytics, content delivery, caching, journaling, booting, etc

  • Experience and familiarity with storage technical sub-domains: hard drives, SSDs, NAND, ASICs, DRAM, interfaces, protocols, features, standards, hardware, firmware, software, validation, manufacturing
