CIBC U.S. Sanctions Senior Analyst in Chicago, Illinois

The U.S. Sanctions Senior Analyst is a member of the U.S. AML and Global Sanctions Team, primarily responsible for dispositioning real-time and batch escalations related to more complex sanctions alerts. Moreover, this role will support and maintain compliance with Enterprise and US Sanctions Policies and Standards for CIBC Combined US Operations (CUSO), including our retail and commercial bank, wealth management and capital markets lines of business.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Execute the first and second level review and dispositioning of higher risk, more complex transactions alerts produced from real-time/batch sanction screening for the CUSO;

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the U.S. Sanctions Program and Team, to ensure it is commensurate with regulatory expectations for a global institution;

  • Identify and understand all U.S. Sanctions systems, controls and risk areas;

  • Monitor and identify any regulatory changes with respect to sanctions;

  • Support and review sanctions screening related to securities and capital markets;

  • Advise various lines of business with recent developments, risk management procedures, as well as, support with any and all sanction related inquiries;

  • Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with risk and lines of business partners;

  • Conduct reviews of the most complex of sanction escalations from various lines of business;

  • Prepare and present metrics and reports for Senior Management

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3-7 years of sanctions experience in the financial services industry;

  • Strong knowledge of OFAC sanctions regulations and export controls;

  • Experience with both Operational and Advisory aspects of sanction compliance;

  • Experience with OFAC reporting, including blocking and rejecting transactions;

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills;

  • CAMS is preferred, CGSS is a plus;

  • Wire Room experience is a plus.

  • Hybrid eligible
