Team Description:

The Risk Management team supports eBay Payments. Our focus is to ensure the integrity of our marketplace for buyers and sellers who transact with us every single day. The scope of the team includes: Risk Solutions to define our platform requirements, Risk Policy which covers seller and buyer onboarding, Risk Decision Sciences which develops and manages our risk policy models, and Risk Operations which monitors and maintains the health of marketplace transactions.

Within Risk Operations, our Incident Management team (IMT) is responsible for the Risk Incident Management structure and process. Incident management is a defined process for identifying, managing, and resolving incidents. You will be an integral part of this team, and will support the team with figuring out “how, why, and where” of issues, with the mission to restore normal operation as quick as possible. You'll do this while minimizing financial loss to eBay and our members, while maintaining an optimal buying and selling experience for our customers.

Your Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

You will be part of a dynamic and talented team, supporting the IMT by providing data and analysis of new and ongoing incidents, as well as monitoring for new issues that may arise.

You will provide analysis into:

  • How did this issue happen (root cause analysis)?

  • Why did it happen and why do we need to fix it (impact analysis)?

  • Where in the data does it show what happened?

You'll be actively partnering with a group of smart and talented incident managers across the globe to ensure support of any ongoing incidents, driving towards quick resolution. This will require global partnership and good interpersonal skills.

Your strengths include:

  • Being fantastic at establishing relationships with key partners in Risk, Risk Product, Risk Policy, Decision Science, LVIS, GCX, CS Product, Risk Analytics, etc.

  • You have a focus on continuous process improvement where the status quo is challenged and improved on an ongoing basis.

  • You love leading multiple projects at any given time, and are able to handle various tasks and challenging demands in a fact paced technology environment.

  • You pride yourself on being organized and efficient.

  • You have proven SQL skills

  • Tableau knowledge is a plus, including building and publishing dashboards

  • Proven working and technical knowledge of risk and operations products and services

  • You have demonstrated the ability to quickly and accurately gauge impact, classify issues, and call out these issues to appropriate teams for resolution

  • You should be analytical, technical, flexible, and self-motivated

  • You demonstrate strong business discernment, interpersonal skills, and experience distilling and presenting complex analysis into action-oriented recommendations.

  • You've got a natural intellectual curiosity, a real passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity.

  • You enjoy communicating and working productively with all levels in an organization, and have demonstrable skills in doing so.

  • You can work flexible hours as needed.

  • You can read, write, and speak fluent English, and are comfortable doing so in many different venues including email, face to face / on the phone, in presentations, etc.

  • You're proficient in a wide range of data sources and programs including: Teradata, Tableau, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Excel / Spreadsheets, Jira Ticketing systems, etc.
