We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Accounts Payable to join our team. This role is pivotal in overseeing our AP and travel services departments, ensuring financial compliance and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of accounting and finance expertise, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of technological systems, particularly Cost Point. What you will do

  • Oversee daily operations of the AP and travel services departments, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other relevant policies.

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, setting measurable goals and implementing best practices to achieve departmental objectives.

  • Maintain approval workflow matrices and prepare account reconciliations related to the accounts payable subledger.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of errors and non-compliant invoices, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Assist in month-end closing procedures, including accruals and reconciliations.

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate coding and approval of invoices.

  • Stay updated with accounting regulations and best practices related to accounts payable and travel services.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the department.

  • Develop meaningful metrics to evaluate overall performance of the department.

  • Manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Analyze and interpret information, including key performance indicators, to drive informed decision-making.

What we are looking for

  • 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in Finance, Accounting and/or related field; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant progressive experience.

  • Must possess a solid understanding of (GAAP) including prepaid transactions and accruals.

  • 10+ years of overall experience, with significant time within a Fortune 500 company.

  • 7+ years of management experience, with a preference for candidates with experience in a high-volume, team-based setting.

  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint.

  • Strong and in-depth understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes and the Procure-to-Pay landscape.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong skills in data analysis, presentation, problem-solving, and research.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including knowledge of complex formulas and modeling.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining quality standards with a proactive and ownership-driven approach to tasks.

  • Must be highly organized with excellent time management skills and be able to work in a fast paced environment.

Preferred: Bonus Points For…

  • 15+ years of overall experience, with significant time within a Fortune 500 company.

  • Experience with Highland OnBase.
