Sherritt International Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting Metals, the Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting completes the financial consolidation and enhancement of reporting, analyses, and business intelligence data to key stakeholders, including management, Board, and shareholders of the Division (where the Division is defined as including Moa Joint Venture (JV) and Sherritt’s Fort Site operations, including ancillary operations like Technologies).

This is a full-time position based out of our Fort Saskatchewan office. This position follows Sherritt’s Flexible Work Arrangements Policy and is a hybrid role, working both remotely and in the office.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement a 3‐12 month’ business plan of continuous improvement for the position.

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports and analysis of performance. Ensure integrity of external reporting and JV Board deliverables of the Division.

  • Design and implement enhancements to common finance procedures and processes in alignment with the policies and strategic objectives of the Division.

  • Proactively develop and maintain effective relationships with accounting staff in other jurisdictions.

  • Coordinate the internal control testing process for the Division in accordance with regulations such as ESTMA and 52‐109 requirements, and prepare quarterly reporting to support divisional sub‐certifications.

  • Execute work required for adoption of new accounting standards under IFRS and advise on the accounting impact of business changes resulting in new or non‐routine transactions.

  • Prepare transfer pricing reporting information.

  • Coordinate the annual external audit and quarterly reviews for the Division. Prepare supporting documentation and respond to audit inquiries as necessary.

  • Provide financial advice as a business partner to the members of the JV management team.

    Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; Chartered Professional Accountant designation required.

  • Experience in a public or complex company.

  • Understanding of current accounting best practices and standards.

  • Ability to conceive and implement a 3‐12 month business plan.

  • Accounting data analysis skills.

  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies.

  • Communication, writing, and presentation skills.

  • Project management and time management skills.
