Job Summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an opening for a full‐time position with our construction management team in our Keizer, Oregon office. You will work closely with AKS construction manager, project managers and the whole design and construction team. You will provide quantity take-offs and cost estimates during project feasibility analysis as well as construction management support services to ensure infrastructure and private development projects are built per the project schedule, budget, plans, and specifications. During AKS project design, you will also provide constructability reviews and detailed engineer’s estimates.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4+ years of proven working experience in the construction/engineering industry.

  • A BS or AS degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

  • Possess a current driver’s license and safe driving record. Must be able to be insured to drive an AKS vehicle.

  • Understands construction methods and technologies, including interpreting contracts, technical drawings, and specifications.

  • Navigate challenging worksites, including in inclement weather and with uneven/unstable ground.

  • Ability to work with Bluebeam Revu to generate markups and quantities. Good with following process, using checklists to track project progress, and generally comfortable working in an office setting including typing, document editing, spreadsheets, and emails.

  • Ability to work quickly, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to plan and see the “big picture”.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Very detail oriented.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:  Working with the Construction Manager the following tasks will be assigned:

  • Managing construction related issues, either directly or working with the AKS construction/project manager.

  • Representing AKS with the contractor, municipal agents, and client; establishing good working relationships is critical.

  • Preparing and reviewing, budgets, schedules, and constructability assessments.

  • Managing budgets, including discussions with contractors, subcontractors, and the owner.

  • Franchise utility coordination and communication.

  • Preparing internal and external reports pertaining to project progress, schedules, and cost tracking for AKS the AKS Project Manager and client(s).

  • Ensuring all changes to specifications, work scope and drawings are documented.

  • Analyzing, managing, and mitigating risks.

  • Inspecting and documenting the construction progress of streets, earthwork, and utilities to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and building codes.

  • Reviewing contractor billing and verifying billed quantities.

  • Completing projects and special assignments as requested.
