Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Mission Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software Engineering organization in Melbourne, Florida, where we define possible.

Join our team to work in an embedded technology environment to develop software working with real time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systems. We build complex aircraft systems using the latest technologies including simulation, cloud computing, DevSecOps, and cyber that can rapidly evolve to deliver enhanced capabilities for fielded systems, modernizing in partnership with our customers to meet their most complex missions. Accomplish

In this role you will be responsible for preparing detailed software requirements specifications, developing design and interface specifications, and modeling subsystem behavior. The selected candidate will become familiar with governing standards to include UAI Platform-Store ICD, MIL-STD-1553, OMS and MIL-STD-1760.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university. 5 Years with BS; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD

  • Familiar with developing software and scripts on various programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Go, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, AND/OR KornShell for Safety-Critical applications/Systems.

  • Must have an Active DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

  • Active DoD Secret level clearance OR Top Secret (in-scope),

  • Ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR) prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with software requirements tools such as DOORS and Rational Rhapsody

  • Differentiating characteristics include demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, excellent oral and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal communication skills at all levels of employees and management.

  • Experience developing software requirements

  • Experience working within an Agile environment

  • Experience with DXL scripting

  • Human Factors experience

Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
