Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

This is an opportunity to join the Canadian Fee-Based and Managed Account team and contribute to the development and growth of our fastest growing investment programs. Our team has responsibility for the existing fee-based program offering (currently, Guided Portfolios and the Edward Jones Portfolio Program) as well as the development of new program offerings (UMA) that meet the needs of our clients. Delivering on both well requires engagement in a candid and collaborative environment and maintaining expertise on client preferences and needs, the branch experience and the competitive/regulatory environment. This must be coupled with deep knowledge of our existing product offering, and the technology/processes that support them.

As a Senior Product Manager for Unified Managed Accounts (UMA), you will be responsible for leading the design, planning and execution of the department's product development strategies for fee-based programs, with a focus on managed accounts. Doing this well will require the ability to lead cross-functional teams from Products, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Advice and Guidance, Finance, and other departments, towards a common goal. Furthermore, you will partner with the Product Adoption Manager to gather feedback from branch teams, develop a deep understanding of branch concerns and pain points that would ultimately inform the product development roadmap. You will also be responsible for collaborating with the UMA vendor to drive alignment and support future enhancements. At its core, your role will be to serve as a fee-based program, SMA, and UMA expert to those around you, to lead new product development and to coordinate accordingly with UMA vendor, Technology teams and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, planning and execution of the department's product development strategies and roadmap for fee-based programs, with a focus on managed accounts.

  • Provides advanced subject matter expertise within the fee-based and managed account space, including the Unified Managed Accounts (UMA) platform, and products offered within the platform (e.g., fund models, SMAs, etc.).

  • Leading complex product enhancements and driving new product development initiatives

  • Collaborating with UMA vendor to drive alignment with firm objectives, roadmap, guidance, and philosophy.

  • Partnering with Change Management team to devise and execute a change management plan that will ensure the success, adoption and understanding of new product offerings.

  • Partnership with Marketing department to develop new client-facing materials that properly convey the value proposition, features and benefits of new products being launched.

  • Partnering with key departments and stakeholders to develop new branch-facing content that will support our product development goals, including user guides, videos, e-learning content, and so on.

  • Proactively identifying and engaging with various stakeholders on product and process enhancement ideas based on branch feedback.

  • Leading advanced level and high-impact product enhancements and/or new product development from concept through launch.

  • Supports department with advanced level expertise across the 7 Dimensions of Product Management, which include: product expertise, competitive and industry knowledge, supply and demand, regulatory and risk management, innovation, product partner relationship management, and systems, tools, and processes.

  • May take a lead role in the training and/or development of other associates.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree or financial industry designations (e.g., MBA, CFA, CFP, CIF) will be a plus

  • Canadian Securities Course required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire

  • Has a minimum of 7 years of financial services industry experience

  • Experience with Unified Managed Accounts (UMA) and/or Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) is strongly preferred

  • Experience with fee-based programs and/or managed accounts strongly preferred

  • Possess personal initiative and interpersonal skills.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to create and deliver professional presentations internally and externally, and must be able to answer routine and complex questions on the spot

  • Must possess intermediate/advanced product/technical knowledge and understanding of current tax, regulatory or other pertinent changes that affect the product line or discipline

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint

  • Working knowledge of product development software (Jira, Aha, Mural, etc.) will be a plus
