To achieve this goal, the Semi-Custom and Central IP Silicon (SCIPS) team is instrumental in developing semicustom silicon and logical acceleration and analog IP related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• You will be on the leading edge of computing, building lasting relationships with various cross-functional groups to develop high-performance and innovative System on Chip (SoC) Silicon and Intellectual Property (IP). You are expected to work with limited direction, have attention to detail and be able to provide crisp status of progress, issues, and risks on the program to the management team.

• Be part of an architecture team leading the definition of next generationSoC and acceleration IP blocks by

• Incubating vertically integrated solutions with customer hardware and software teams

• Driving evaluations and providing recommendations for technology thru industry knowledge and power, area, and performance metrics

• Authoring architecture specification of SoC and acceleration IP block solutions

• Working with System and SoC architects on functional and performance requirements and developing architectural models for analysis, trade-off studies, and guiding implementation

• Willbe responsible forengaging with internal and external partners forbest in classdevelopment

• Support implementation teams in pre and post silicon to ensure features and performance meet the architectural requirements

• Be part of a system integrated team by ensuring silicon gets successfully deployed in Microsoft products

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• 9+ years of related technical engineering experience

• OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience

• OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience

• OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience.

• 8+ years of computer architecture, design and/or modeling experience.

• 3+ years of experiencein one or more of the following fields, Lossless Data compression algorithms (such as Z standard or industry related) or nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) and storage technology or Device Virtualization (single root I/O virtualization (SRIOV) or Scalable IO Virtualization (SIOV))

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

• Modelling Experience

• 3+ years of experience in developing functional / performance cycle or bit-accurate C/C++ models

• Knowledge in one or more of the following areasis a plus

• Industry standard interfaces such as AMBA AXI, PCIe, CXL, and DDR/LPDDR is preferred

• Confidential compute and security needs

• QoS mechanisms

• Accelerator Use Cases that are tightly coupled with compute cores – Crypto, Compression, Packet Parsing, Filtering

• Experience designing and architecting complicated IPs and SoCs.

• Effective communication skills to influence Azure business and engineering teams.

Silicon Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
