Lacework Software Engineer - Agent Backend Infrastructure in Mountain View, California

Lacework Agent is a crucial component of our cloud workload portfolio. It collects data with all the context needed for providing customers with complete runtime visibility into their security posture. It also feeds this data into various modeling algorithms that generate events to inform customers of any malicious activity that may occur within their workloads.

It is deployed on hundreds of thousands of machines and continues to scale. Key objective is to to serve Cloud Security use cases without losing data fidelity while supporting a wide range of Kubernetes/cloud environments.

The Agent backend infrastructure team owns the end-to-end infrastructure (backend services, database schemas, queries and front end components) for making agent data and metadata available in the Lacework platform as well as infrastructure that Lacework platform uses to communicate with agents"

As a member of our team, we look first and foremost for people who are energized by solving business problems through high quality innovation and principled engineering practices while also possessing a deep sense of ownership over products that they build. You'll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders on a daily basis to stay focused on common goals.

We're looking for people who care about services/systems ownership from inception to production and maintain a high bar for maintaining reliability and availability. Our highly collaborative environment requires clear, detailed communication and ability to build relationships inside and across teams to achieve great results together.

Responsibilities

  • Code quickly with high quality using primarily Rust, Go, and/or Java

  • Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa

  • Conduct design and code reviews

  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources

  • Establish self as an owner of a particular component, feature or system with expert end-to-end understanding

  • Successfully completes projects at varying scopes while maintaining a consistent high level of productivity

Minimum Qualification

  • Experience designing, building large distributed systems

  • Experience in either Rust, Go, C++, Java, Python or other relevant coding languages

  • Professional extensive experience profiling, debugging, and performance tuning complex distributed systems

  • Hands-on experience with one or more distributed systems technologies, such as…

  • Data processing (Kafka, Snowflake, ETL, Stream Processing, ...)

  • SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, Mongo, DynamoDB…)

  • Cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, AWS/GCP/Azure, …)

Preferred Qualification

  • B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field

  • Bachelor's Degree or better in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology

Salary Range: $119k - $160k USD Annually + Benefits (https://www.lacework.com/careers/) + Bonus + Equity

We use a hybrid work model of 2 days in the office per week
