Shell Rotating Equipment Engineer in Neuquén, Argentina

Purpose

The Rotating Equipment (RE) Engineer will provide oversight of the asset Rotating Equipment fleet, including the design, maintenance, condition monitoring, reliability assessment and plant change support. The Asset RE Engineer will provide Technical Assurance responsibility for rotating equipment within the Asset. The Asset RE specialist will provide technical assistance, training, and support to Asset facility staff, including mechanics and operators.

Accountabilities:

Rotating Equipment Maintenance Focal Point

  • Ensure PM’s are in place and completed properly.

  • Ensure spare parts and special tooling for rotating equipment are stocked and stored properly.

  • Ensure effective maintenance execution strategies are in place for Rotating Equipment and associated systems.

  • Develop work scopes and QA/QC plans for overhauls of Asset rotating equipment.

  • Oversee rotating equipment overhauls.

  • Point of contact for vendors and technical assurance.

  • Ensure proper documentation of initial equipment selection, changes, and repairs are stored for future reference.

  • Manage the predictive maintenance of rotating equipment. This includes vibration analysis, oil analysis, and performance.

  • Review corrective maintenance notifications to generate pareto analysis to improve preventive maintenance (PMO process)

Rotating Equipment Technical Assurance

  • Provide technical support for rotating equipment troubleshooting.

  • Identify/Provide quality assurance during repairs of rotating equipment to ensure processes and procedures are followed, and QA witness checks are performed.

  • Ensure contractor and Shell staff competency while they are working on the rotating equipment and connected systems.

  • Review changes that affect the Rotating equipment to ensure that Asset Integrity is maintained, following the MoC procedures.

  • Oversee installation of new/modified rotating equipment to ensure processes and procedures are followed, and QA witness checks are performed.

  • Interface with central Technical Authorities and site personnel for rotating equipment issues.

  • Identify/Provide training regarding competency development amongst the maintenance craftsmen and operating personnel in regards to the rotating equipment/systems.

  • Participate in or lead failure analysis and investigations to determine root cause failure mechanisms of rotating equipment.

Dimensions

Regular presence in the field to provide support of rotating equipment operation and maintenance is expected. Due to the areal extent of the field, driving might be required, including on unpaved roads. Interaction with all levels of the organization, including operators, field leadership, asset leadership, engineering, and project delivery staff. Significant rotating equipment maintenance scope is executed by contractors, requiring the ability to work productively with 3rd parties.

The Rotating Equipment Engineer is part of the Surface Engineering Team and works closely with other members of the team, including PACO and Electrical specialists, and Facilities and Reliability engineers. Systems in the Rotating Equipment Specialist’s scope include, but are not limited to: Oil and water transfer pumps, Produced water injection pumps, Vapor recovery units, Gas compressors, artificial lift pumps.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of rotating equipment experience, preferably in onshore oil and gas production.

  • Skill in operating and maintaining rotating equipment, including all types of compressors and pumps.

  • Ability to work effectively with technical, operations, and maintenance personnel.

  • Skill in root cause analysis, preferably including causal learning techniques.

  • Knowledge of Manage Equipment Care (MEC), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Manage Threats and Opportunities (MTO) and Management of Change (MOC) processes within the Asset Management System (AMS).

  • Fluent in Spanish, moderate to advanced reading/writing/speaking in English is preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering discipline.
