Intermountain Behavioral Health Access Centers offer psychiatric and crisis care for people who are 18-years-old and older. It is ideal for patients who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis without a medical emergency. It offers immediate crisis treatment, observation, and fast access to mental health treatment. This allows patients to get the best level of care and lowers the overall costs. The Access Center is located within the hospital, adjacent to the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit, allowing for escalation of care when needed. The Access Center is staffed by psych techs, registered nurses, peer support specialists, and social workers. The psychiatrist will work hand in hand with other team members to access patients and create an appropriate treatment plan. With various team members working together, physicians in the Access Center require good interpersonal skills and leadership qualities to manage patients and their needs.

Practice Information

  • BC/BE adult psychiatrist is needed in Ogden for emergency psychiatry care (Access Center) at McKay Dee Hospital

  • Shift work, currently 9am to 7pm without any call or additional responsibilities outside of those hours. 1-2 weekends per month. In the future, when additional providers are hired, there will be two shifts per day, 7am to 5pm and 3pm to midnight. It is anticipated that the psychiatrist will work 15 shifts per month.

  • Work in a team-based atmosphere to provide medical screening exams and stabilize patients in crisis

  • The Access Center serves the following purposes: 1) improving initial access to psychiatric services throughout the region, 2) improving patient navigation to appropriate resources, 3) extending resources where they would otherwise not be available, and 4) alleviating inefficient use of resources in other settings (e.g., extended emergency department stays)

  • Employment is with the Intermountain Medical Group.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible in psychiatry

  • Unrestricted Utah MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license

  • U.S. ACGME Residency

  • BLS Certificate

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$7.25 - $999.99
