JPMorgan Chase Principal Architect for Analytical Data Platforms-Executive Director in Plano, Texas

JPMC is looking for a Director of Architecture for Analytical Data Platforms (ADP) to join the Data Technology architecture organization. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of data platforms, architecture applications, processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and a driver of innovation to achieve the target state architecture goals.

As we modernize our data ecosystem, the Analytical Data Platforms organization is responsible for enabling thousands of users across personas - Analysts, Developers, AI/ML - to build data products consistently, rapidly, and at scale. This enablement is in the form of serving consumption platforms, tooling, and foundational data necessary for the next generation data consumer and producer experiences, working with organizations across technology and business teams to deliver holistic transformation across the data ecosystem.

Job responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional architecture objectives

  • Makes and is accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures

  • Raise the architecture and engineering bar for the team through best practices, coaching, and talent development in partnership with product teams to build and advance our strategic data roadmap

  • Analyze user requirements and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to thoroughly understand key objectives and pain points and provide meaningful architecture direction for the product and data platforms

  • Conducts governance accountability for architecture and coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations

  • Manage risks and achieve business targets like cost, features, reusability, and reliability to support growth

  • Leverage the principles of domain drive design (DDD) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) to enable flexibility and business agility

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years of experience delivering enterprise grade architecture solutions

  • Strong knowledge of software and architectural patterns and anti-patterns

  • Experience designing systems for high availability, scale, and compliant data exchange by embedding controls of least privileged access methodology

  • Hands-on working experience in large-scale data processing frameworks and distributed systems (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, DBT, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience within AWS, especially understanding of key data technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, EMR, Athena, S3 and Lake Formation

  • Automated data pipeline verification and data profiling, especially as it applies to migration and observability (e.g. Great Expectations, Talend, DataQ)

  • Experience in modern software development technologies (Java/JS/REST) and methodologies (Agile/Scrum)

  • Experience leading managers and senior technical leaders spanning developing, retaining, and growing talent - both from within and hiring

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience driving change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple Lines of Businesses, Technology, and corporate functions

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • AI/ML and/or feature engineering

  • MS Degree
