Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us further evolve semantic modeling capabilities in Power BI and Fabric. Responsibilities

  • Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with architects, UX designers, and product managers 

  • Design, code, test, and develop features with good quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership

  • Build cross-platform reusable components, shipping faster to a higher level of quality and consistency

  • Drive features end-to-end within the team, scoping and breaking down work and coordinating execution

  • Maintain customer focus, considering current and future needs when designing and implementing features

  • Collaborate effectively within the team and with partner teams across Microsoft

  • Promote engineering excellence and best practices within the team, ensuring quality and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of software engineering and product development with a proven track record of shipping end-user software services or products.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • Knowledge in MS Fabric

  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI or other BI/analytic tools.

  • Experience in data modeling and visualization

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
