Cabela's Market Asset Protection Manager in San Jose, California

Pay Range: $70,150.00 - $123,050.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Market Asset Protection Manager manages the Asset Protection program in two or more Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s Retail locations in a geographical area, reporting to the Regional Asset Protection Manager. This role is responsible for proactively protecting all Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s assets, including people, property, and proprietary information. The Market Asset Protection Manager assists in planning, analyzing, evaluating, and leading the Safety Security and Compliance function in the retail store environment to enhance bottom line profitability through shrink and risk reduction. This position proactively leads all internal and external investigations relating to criminal activity to reduce theft and fraud exposure and leads the development of a shrink elimination culture in the store through education of all levels of Outfitters on asset protection initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies and implements procedures to influence changes in operational processes or training gaps that are causing profit loss or shrink to the retail environment. Measured through daily walks, audits, validations, and regular business reviews.

  • Maintains inventory shrink reduction efforts to minimize bottom line loss in the retail stores. This includes the training of both Outfitters and Retail Managers on trends to help limit loss. Measured through awareness training, daily reports, physical inventory results, ability to diagnose root cause and develop partnerships to minimize loss.

  • Performs timely, legal, and effective internal and external investigations that limit liability while reducing the overall impact to the company's bottom line. Measured through investigative productivity with supporting documentation and effective file retention.

  • Manages Safety Security and Compliance Awareness to promote collaboration and assistance to protect Outfitters, customers, and bottom line. Measured through employee engagement, Safety Security and Compliance validations, audit results and collaboration with store leadership.

  • Accounts for the professional development of partnerships with all Management and Team Leads in the Retail Stores to further develop business acumen and obtain buy-in for the Safety, Security, and Compliance functions.

  • Supports Company Asset Protection initiatives, evolve & advance the Asset Protection program in partnership with the Asset Protection teams in each location.

  • Develops professional working partnerships with regulatory agencies, police, retail Asset Protection departments, and store Outfitters to leverage overall improvement to retail operations.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminology, business administration, or related discipline is preferred.

  • A combination of education and asset protection experience will be considered.

  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in an Asset Protection role

  • 2 or more years’ experience in an Asset Protection supervisory or manager capacity

  • Possess or be eligible to acquire state Security Guard license.

  • Certification in Wicklander Zulawski Investigative Interviewing is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with common security systems (CCTV, Card Access, Burglar alarms, and Exception Based Reporting)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and standard web browsers (i.e., Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer).

  • Must be able to read documents, printouts, reports, computer screens and other written communication.

  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and co-workers.

  • Must be able to stand and/or walk to fill orders, assist customers on the sales floor, etc.

  • Must be able to stock product at various racking levels, use stepstool or ladder, etc.

  • Must be able to write, type and use phone system.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel to various stores as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular computer work and sitting.

  • Occasional walking, standing, and lifting.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT :

  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor. ​
