Amazon Principal Program Manager, Prime Video Personalization & Discovery in Seattle, Washington

Prime Video’s (PV) vision is to be the world’s most loved premium video service, and in doing so become the default entertainment hub globally. Prime Video Personalization and Discovery is at the heart of this vision, to surface the right content to the right customers at the right time. We have unique challenges given our broad set of content offers (SVOD, TVOD, Channels, ad-supported content) and a CX that balances exposure across all of them, content types (TV Shows, Movies, Sports) and consumption models (VOD, Live, Linear), our slate of original content, 200+ supported countries with unique languages and discovery preferences, a growing advertising business (Sterling), global 3P content partners who expect control over in-app Discovery experiences, and a growing catalog with millions of title.

As Principal Program Manager in Personalization and Discovery you will focus on programs that are core to the success of PVPD, from defining and tracking SVP level and organization goals to driving operational planning, critical program reviews, metrics and more. You are responsible for defining and delivering important programs with broad cross-organizational, cross-regional, or significant business impact. You are trusted to operate with complete independence and are often assigned to focus on areas where the strategy has not yet been defined, with an expectation to directly lead the design of the solution, implementation, and delivery of a highly complicated cross-functional project in an ambiguous or new business area. You consistently bring strong, data-driven business and strategic judgment to decisions. You will be responsible for responsible for driving to launch and identifying opportunities to enhance capabilities that improve the quality, scalability, and customer satisfaction of our products.

Key job responsibilities

  • Operate as a single-threaded owner to define, drive & deliver business goals end-to-end.

  • Advise & influence leadership/stakeholder teams on various trade-off decisions.

  • Lead large, cross-functional planning and strategy workstreams.

  • Develop high-confidence annual operating plans that have measurable impact on key metrics.

  • Regularly presenting to VP and SVP level leaders, such as monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews with leadership covering strategic level topics.

  • Own various business reviews & documents that articulate clearly - program goals, desired outcomes, risks & mitigation plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of cross functional project delivery experience, or a MBA and 5+ years of cross functional project delivery experience

  • 7+ years of working cross functionally across several teams experience

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience owning program strategy and end to end delivery

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Experience defining and executing program requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program/Product management experience in an Internet services/E-commerce company

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience operating at scale, to work with teams and partners spanning hundreds of engineers, scientists and product managers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
