Amazon Senior Product Manager - Tech, Demand planning and Product Development (DePD) in Seattle, Washington

To effectively and efficiently plan these processes, we require scalable internal products and personnel to forecast the demand for these millions of products. These planning forecasts determine production unit numbers, inventory and supply chain requirements, production scheduling, transportation and delivery routing, and various other critical mechanisms.

The Demand Planning and Product Development (DePD) team, within the Demand Science Organization (DSO), is responsible for generating demand forecasts and plans for Amazon Devices. We play a crucial role in delivering our world-class devices to customers on time, through the appropriate delivery channels, and at the lowest cost. We focus on developing software products that facilitate planning.

We are seeking a leader who can raise the bar in this function. This role entails building an inputs data curator product for forecasting, demand planning, inventory allocation, and promotion planning functions. You will be tasked with driving the long-term vision for the input manager, emphasizing excellence, automation, and accuracy to enhance scalability and dependability in the planning process for all device product lines. Leveraging a background in product innovation, execution, and analytics, you will identify forward-thinking scalable solutions and advocate for products across the organization.

This role is suitable for individuals who enjoy leading multi-stakeholder initiatives involving teams from different organizations, such as Devices Finance, Product Lines, Global Supply Chain, and internal engineering teams. Constant engagement with these teams is required to create a well-aligned ideation-to-launch strategy.

Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Product Manager - Technical, you will:

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, build and improve systems, while delivering for scale and complexity.

  • Communicate and earn trust with our customers.

  • Establish goals and metrics to identify opportunities and deliver success.

  • Define requirements based on knowledge of customers, devices business and planning processes.

  • Communicate vision, roadmap, requirements, and initiatives through written narratives.

  • Manage backlog trade-offs to ensure the team is working on the highest priority items.

A day in the life

As a Senior PM-T at DePD, you will collaborate with a team of Program and Product Managers responsible for a portfolio of products. You'll closely engage with business partners and engineering teams to drive the delivery of new software and features. While each day varies, common tasks include conducting PRFAQ reviews with leadership and stakeholders, drafting user requirements in the BRD, collaborating with engineering teams on design, and providing progress updates to senior leaders.

About the team

DePD is a multi-disciplinary team of Product Managers, Program Managers, Data Engineers, Applied and Research Scientists, and Business Intelligence Engineers. We take an end-to-end perspective of the software needs of generating demand forecasts and plan for devices WW, and ensure that solutions address the needs of the entire organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing technical products or online services

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
