Amazon Sr. UX Designer, Energy and Sustainability Devices in Seattle, Washington

As a team, we design customer-facing energy products leverage cutting edge machine learning, sensors, smart home devices, cloud services, material science, and Alexa to build products that have a meaningful impact for customers and the climate.

In alignment with this bold corporate goal, the Amazon Devices & Services organization is looking for a mission-driven Sr. UX Designer to be a key contributor to the design of new-to-world products to help us deliver a product portfolio for a zero-carbon future. You will work alongside, research, product management, engineering, and QA to define and build a portfolio of v1 lovable products. This position requires the ability to thrive in ambiguity, dive deep, invent, and be relentlessly curious about customer needs and how we can bring potential solutions to life. You will validate concepts at a variety of fidelities, including working prototypes, throughout the design process. You are highly motivated to explore new opportunities along the way, consistently raising the bar for what’s possible.

Key job responsibilities

You will:

  • Plan and propose innovative solutions for a wide variety of user experience challenges.

  • Lead the design of v1 experiences while planning and strategizing for future iterations.

  • Develop high-level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, animated videos, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

  • Quickly iterate on multiple interactive design solutions and work through details.

  • Advocate for your design solutions by putting them in context of business and user goals.

  • Deliver work that's not only user-friendly and aesthetically engaging, but also produces business results.

  • Work alongside research, design strategy, engineers, and product managers throughout all stages of the production cycle.

  • Develop and maintain detailed user interface specifications, contributing to an overall shared design system.

  • Effectively present design work and supporting thinking to stakeholders and senior leadership for review and feedback.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of design experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes

  • Experience with UX design of complex workflows

  • Experience creating storyboards or animatics

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
