Sartorius Product Development Manager in Shanghai, China

The Product Development Manager (PDM) drives the innovation and development of the organisation's products and services. The PDM assesses the industry landscape, reviews existing products and services, and prospects new learning offerings. The PDM will focus on the market trend in biopharma industry and the specific request from the industry which Sartorius cannot fulfilled yet or should be modified/optimized, who will also focus on the development and conception of new products, as well as the high-level monitoring and management of products already in development. PDM should balance business objectives, technological possibilities, customer needs, product/project constraints, and resources available.

The PDM will focus on the market trend in biopharma industry and the specific request from the industry which Sartorius cannot fulfilled yet or should be modified/optimized, who will also focus on the development and conception of new products, as well as the high-level monitoring and management of products already in development. PDM should balance business objectives, technological possibilities, customer needs, product/project constraints, and resources available.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Evaluate and co-ordinate product portfolio to evaluate market trends and feedback from customer research to identify gaps in the current product portfolio

  • Develop project proposals to be considered for entry into the product development process

  • Fully execute GP-108 guideline

  • Project Management skills: Monitor project status; Be responsible for keeping the execution under the planned schedule and budget

  • Deeply understand the customer problems and pain points. Build solutions accordingly and work closely with the designers to validate the effectiveness of the solutions.

  • Confirm URS from Product Management and consistent communication with Product Management for URS assurance

  • Work closely with cross functional colleagues in Marketing, Hardware and Consumable Design & Technical, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales & Commercial to ensure stringent validation approvals against the product design where necessary.

  • Work with sales, procurement and supply chain to establish initial order quantities and with marketing to deliver a fully featured launch process and collateral and also prepare training material in relation to the new product and ensure it is delivered to all relevant parties

  • In partnership with the sales team and technical teams, stay close to early adopters of new products and gather feedback on experiences of the product feeding back improvements to the design team. Feedback positive comment to the sales and marketing teams to incorporate in pitches/marketing material.

  • Be fully involved with colleagues in Marketing to deliver fully featured product launch. Undertake all training of sales/commercial colleagues so that they are fully au fait with product specifications, features and benefits.

    Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent English skills both verbal and written

  • 5-10 years of working experience in biopharmaceutical process development, scale-up, process characterization, technology transfer, scale-up or production

  • Master degree or above in biotechnology, biochemistry or equivalent in life sciences - Deeply understand biologics drug development and application process in international and domestic markets

  • PMP Qualified ; Ability to manage a broad range of projects.

  • Self-motivated, HIGHLY organized, and flexible.

  • Possess excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines and budgets and organize and manage tasks

  • Be creative and possess innovation skills to come up with unique product ideas that solve customer needs and give the product a competitive advantage.

  • Ability to successfully collaborate, both with internal stakeholders and teams

  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
