Job Description

Devise DevOps strategy and Implement Continuous integration & delivery model for Manulife Japan systems to fasten delivery process

  • Devise devops implementation strategy for manulife Japan coordinating with development team and leverage with regional team

  • Engage in the projects and onboard DevOps methodology for the projects

  • Solves problems and issues in development, test and production environments. Eases the development workflow in order to release code more frequently, without bugs while reducing the operational load.

  • Creates automated and robust tools to deploy code and configurations that support development and manage capacity of associated live servers, controlling the continuous integration stages and the releases to other departments.

  • Provides devops tool support across entire software development value chain.

  • Coordinate with quality team & Release team to build the capability of continuous integration and continuous delivery

  • Design and implement automation for all aspects of the application delivery lifecycle: build, test, scan, deploy, validate, rollover, and self-heal

  • Automate system updates (Docker/Puppet/Jenkins/Kubernetes).

  • Deploy, secure and administer services on Azure platform

  • Implement health checks, redundancy and self-healing

  • Assist internal and external client support teams to deploy, configure and troubleshoot systems and services

  • Develop support guidelines and processes that improve support resolution time and increase efficiency through automation and documentation

  • Design, develop, implement documentation and operational runbooks to improve knowledge sharing among the team and the onboarding and training new team members

  • Provides guidance to functional team members to achieve goals in accordance with established policies and procedures. Collaborates with software development and architecture teams.

  • Actively participates in developing long range technical infrastructure and architectural plans.

Responsibilities

  • Understand current processes of the Manulife Japan application development and delivery.

  • Find areas to explore for improvement, analyze the problem landscape and come up with solutions.

  • Propose solutions to stakeholders and get buy-ins.

  • Implement and rollout solutions with various parties at the mindset of cross-functional team.

  • Document key information and share knowledge to uplift the engineering culture.

  • Measure the effectiveness of solutions and keep improving.

  • Carry out above activities with minimal guidance and supervision.

  • Report and share the status of your activities and escalation when requires attention.

  • Self-directed, self-motivated, self-starter and does not procrastinate.

  • Be a creator with insight, not an order taker.

Required Skills

  • 15+ years of IT domain, and 5+ years similar experience.

  • Understanding of : DevOps framework and relevant processes, CICD tools/pipeline, Database, Web Application, Web Services, Micro Services/API.

  • Experience with Cloud technologies like Azure, AWS, GCP, as well as dynamic resource management frameworks such as Kubernetes, Mesos.

  • A proactive approach to identifying problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Knowledge of financial services, specifically Insurance industry.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present, persuade and influence peers and vendors.

  • Previous success in technical engineering or application support.

  • Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript.

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Experience with Agile (Scrum or Kanban), Jira and ServiceNow, Jenkins, Bamboo, Maven, Git, BitBucket, Artifactory

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present, persuade and influence peers and vendors.

  • Proficient or above in Japanese and English.

Internal Guidelines about Work From Home:

Work From Home about 2 times in a month. (Currently basically WFH due to the Corona situation)

Over time:

Around 30 hours per month.

Salary:

Based on our Work Rules, we will consider your experience, skills and knowledge when we decide the salary.

Commutation allowance and Variable Incentive Bonus are paid based on our Work Rules.

Working Hours:

Standard Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Include 1 hour break. Flextime system available)
