GE Vernova Supplier Quality Engineer - Heat Exchanger in Warsaw, Poland

Job Description Summary

As a Supplier Quality Engineer you will be responsible to drive product qualification activities related to heat exchangers scope, support part and documentation quality activities at suppliers, organize witness/surveillance inspection and manage nonconformities and quality improvement projects within the supply base for the assigned product scope.

Your internal stakeholders will be Factory Quality, Procurement and Engineering teams as well as various Steam Power Project Quality and Management teams, with the division of work defined by supplier Quality RACI SPS-PR-0284. In this role you will initiate and execute supplier development activities and assure suppliers quality performance that will allow for successful execution of procurement strategy and meet customer expectations on quality, cost and lead time.

You will be a driven person with superb attention to detail and able to organize workload with minimal supervision.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Core Package Management teams.

  • Work with procurement teams to define / agree / communicate to all stakeholders a roadmap for supplier development activities, identifying the SQ tasks to ensure the right supply chain performance to meet business objectives.

  • Track and drive progress against roadmap commitments with regular reports to stakeholders and management.

  • Execute activities to drive quality, delivery and compliance excellence within the supply base for the assigned product scope. These activities include:

  • Supplier on-boarding and qualification:

  • Assess suppliers QMS through audits according to DIR-0102 ,

  • Record actions plans and manage supplier approvals in the supplier database according to DIR-0102 ,

  • Assess suppliers manufacturing capability through technical assessment according to DIR-0104 ,

  • Record related actions plans and approve qualification requests in the supplier database according to DIR-0104 .

  • Supplier assessment and development:

  • Attend pre-award meetings with suppliers and Sourcing/Engineering,

  • Initiate and contribute to the Supplier Performance Rating process,

  • Review and update suppliers’ qualification status based on their performance assessment according to DIR-0106 ,

  • Initiate and manage supplier development actions and Q improvement plans.

  • Purchase Order Kick-off Meetings, Pre-Inspection Meetings and supplier documentation:

  • Prepare the list of documents to be delivered by the supplier (DL001) according to PMF-0045 ,

  • Ensure readiness for kick-off meeting with dedicated checklist,

  • Confirm supplier surveillance strategy with project team,

  • Organize the kick-off & pre-inspection meetings with suppliers and relevant GE representatives according to DIR-0105 ,

  • Organize supplier quality documentation review with Engineering and external expert service providers and, where applicable, review supplier quality documentation (ITP, procedures, …).

  • Execution of surveillance inspections:

  • Set up inspection strategy managed in MTA-ITTS according to WIA-0100 ,

  • Schedule quality surveillance and witness inspections at suppliers

  • Perform the surveillance inspections for the critical equipment and suppliers, as necessary

  • Ensure product compliance with contract requirements and applicable regulations

  • Timely review, validate and distribute inspection reports.

  • Release material for shipment:

  • Ensure all deviations are closed,

  • Review End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR),

  • Authorize shipment once all quality requirements are met.

  • Manage technical deviations:

  • Continuously follow up the punch items and nonconformities resulting from the quality surveillance inspections up to their closure,

  • Record and/or distribute nonconformities identified at suppliers,

  • Drive RCA with suppliers, with 8D at least following High & Critical NCRs, support/lead critical root cause analysis and create the right corrective actions and preventative actions

  • Analyse Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and support Sourcing claim process,

  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented by suppliers.

  • Manage surveillance audits:

  • Organize surveillance audits as necessary,

  • Monitor the closure of actions resulting from on-boarding phase,

  • Record associated reports in the supplier database.

  • Drive a strong EHS culture throughout the supply base.

  • Support cost-out opportunities identified by the suppliers.

  • Propose improvement projects to increase the effectiveness of the processes.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced background in Power Generation Industry with experience of manufacturing, quality control inspections, sourcing and/or engineering.

  • Education in quality, materials, engineering or manufacturing (minimum Master’s degree).

  • Strong communication skills in English and Polish language.

  • Strong quality mindset with proven use of the quality tool kit in risk assessment, 8D and manufacturing process controls.

  • Proven experience to define/delegate and coordinate mission-based tasks.

  • Knowledge in of the key manufacturing process for the assigned scope of commodities.

  • Capacity to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards.

  • Lean Six Sigma certified or equivalent (demonstrated experience).

  • ISO Lead auditor certified by 3rd party registrar or accepted internal GEtraining/certification program.

  • Fluent in French.
