Summary This position is part of the Office of Facilities and Administrative Services. The incumbent serves as the supervisor of the Occupational Safety & Wellness Branch, providing occupational safety, health, and environmental management and oversight to occupants of the DOI Stewart Lee Udall Building (Udall); occupational safety support for the OS nationwide; and management of a Wellness Center in the Udall Building that is supported by a full-time Registered Nurse. Responsibilities Performs a wide range of supervisory and managerial responsibilities including, conducting human capital management such as staffing and recruitment (developing position descriptions and managing all aspects of hiring actions); determining work objectives, priorities, and assigning tasks; evaluating performance; employee development; rewarding and training employees; approving leave and overtime; resolves complaints; and managing employee conduct. Managing critical administrative programs for the OS nationwide such as Occupational Safety, Wellness and Environmental Programs serving the Headquarters of a Cabinet-level Agency and/or an organization nationwide. Serves as a technical expert and implements operational safety and environmental compliance for a large facility in compliance with federal regulations. Manages the day- to- day operations of a Branch to include contracts; budget; communications both oral and written; and ensure the most efficient and effective organization possible and maximize services to clients. Qualifications At the GS-14 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. More specifically, this requirement involves experience in: planning, developing, managing and coordinating a nationwide Safety Program to ensure and enforce compliance with Federal and Departmental regulations designed to minimize accidents and injury, or damage of Government resources; Identifying and assessing workplace hazards and recommending corrective actions or control measures to mitigate them; while educating Managers, Supervisors on their role and responsibilities in implementing safety into managed operations; Expert experience utilizing occupational health and safety regulations, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques and applying those regulations to a large organization; experience organizing, leading, and/or participating in accident investigations, after action reviews, or facilitating learning analyzes; and experience reviewing, preparing, and implementing project job hazard analysis.
