Software Engineer Job Description

Siemens EDA is the longest standing Electronic Design Automation company in the world and over the last 30 years has amassed the finest technology portfolio in the business. Our software tools span the full breadth of semiconductor and electrical systems solutions including integrated circuit design and verification, PCB design & manufacturing solutions, cable harness design tools, and embedded software.

Siemens EDA has an opportunity for a Software Engineer to join Build and Infrastructure Group for their flagship Calibre product. The group works on multiple areas of the Software Development Process including Source Code Management, building CI/CD pipelines, setting up and maintaining infrastructure both on-premises and on the cloud, licensing, clearing OSS, build and release management.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide first-level support/triage for requests by actively participating in monitoring and updating our ticketing system

• Work on development and support of critical DevOps applications used by global team of 700+ software engineers

• Assist with optimization and modernization of our internal software environment and toolsets

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science

• Proficiency with Git and at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl)

• Strong desire for continuous improvement and have a passion for automation and making tasks repeatable

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills, we are here to support our customers!

• Experience with and passion for Unix/Linux operating systems

• Strong candidates will be resourceful, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative when appropriate and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment

Desired skills & experience

• Docker or OCI container creation and Kubernetes administration

• Knowledge of relational database design and implementation

• Experience with cloud architecture, provisioning and managing cloud resources

• Experience with distributed computing environments

The salary range for this position is $82,900 to $149,200 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
